Every piece of content on CBD Oil Pets follows the standards below. No exceptions.
Veterinary Review Process
Every article is reviewed by a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine before publication. The vet reviewer checks:
- Medical accuracy of all health claims
- Dosing information against published veterinary literature
- Drug interaction warnings and contraindications
- Species-specific safety considerations
- Appropriate qualifying language (CBD is not FDA-approved for animal use)
The reviewer's name and credentials appear on every article. See our vet reviewer profile.
Source Requirements
We cite three categories of sources, in order of preference:
- Peer-reviewed studies: Published in indexed journals (JAVMA, Frontiers in Veterinary Science, etc.)
- Institutional guidance: AVMA position statements, state veterinary board regulations, FDA communications
- Third-party lab reports: Certificates of Analysis from ISO-accredited laboratories
We do not cite manufacturer claims, influencer testimonials, or unattributed statistics as evidence.
COA Verification
Before recommending any CBD product, we verify its Certificate of Analysis:
- COA must be from a third-party lab (not the manufacturer's in-house lab)
- CBD potency must be within ±10% of label claim
- THC must test below 0.3% (federal legal limit)
- Must pass contaminant panels: heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, microbials
- COA must be dated within 12 months
Products that fail any criterion are excluded from recommendations, regardless of brand reputation or affiliate commission.
Editorial Firewall
Revenue and editorial decisions are separated:
- Affiliate commission rates do not influence product rankings
- Brands cannot pay for favorable reviews or placement
- Sponsored content is clearly labeled (we currently accept none)
- The editorial team has final authority over all published content
Corrections Policy
When we get something wrong, we fix it publicly:
- Factual errors are corrected immediately with a dated correction note
- Outdated studies are replaced when newer evidence is available
- Product recommendations are updated when COAs expire or test results change
Report errors to editorial@cbdoilpets.com.

- We don't claim CBD cures any condition
- We don't provide veterinary medical advice (consult your vet)
- We don't recommend products without COA verification
- We don't accept payment for editorial content
